With the Cosy Collection being all about autumnal vibes we thought it would be fun to shoot some of the goods in the woods! Full transparency here, the photoshoot involved just John and I and we are not professional photographers! Plus we only had a very short window when we could take the pictures so the pressure was on!
Finding the right spot!
The first job was to find somewhere suitable to take the photos. We are lucky to live in the Surrey Hills so wooded areas are in abundance. However, not all are easily accessible with a van full of furniture! So the hunt was on and various walks took place to find somewhere that was just right! Luckily it wasn't far from the studio or our house. The spot we chose was on a local footpath, but the track we needed to drive the van down was privately owned so the next job was to ask the farmer if we could park the van on it for a couple hours. Luckily John had an idea who owned it and so before I knew it we were knocking on his door (with Maggie, but minus Edith because she was too embarrassed) asking if it was possible. After explaining our idea and a few bemused looks we got the go-ahead!
The day itself
We chose a day in half term where the weather was looking good and we thought we'd be able to capture some good photos. John loaded the van and I bought a bucket load of patience and some shoes I didn't mind getting muddy! We were hoping that Edith and Maggie would join in the fun, but for some reason they opted to stay at home; a safe distance away from their embarrassing parents!!!
Whilst it wasn't the sunny autumnal day I had envisaged, it was bright enough and unseasonably mild! Plus it wasn't raining which was the main thing to avoid! Once everything was unloaded John started to place the goods and I snapped away, all whilst trying not to fall over or get the pieces muddy! It was all fairly improvised (sometimes that's the best way though) but I think we managed to get some great shots and my vision was pretty much realised, apart from the blue skies!
John, as you would imagine, was super patient with me and great at moving the furniture and helping me decide on what shots to take. He even let me take a few photos and videos of him with very little eye rolling!!! Thank you John!
