How do we display our much loved possessions?

As a family we have a bit of a thing for collecting and displaying much loved possessions and 'finds!' It seems both Edith and Maggie have inherited this love which pleases us greatly! Their rooms are filled with things they have found, made or been given and with each holiday or trip, their displays are added to. Having these items around the house brings us real joy and opens up so many conversations about past times or treasured memories.

We thought it would be nice to share how we display our treasures and finds in our own home.

Letterpress trays, pigeon holes and shelves

Edith has a large letterpress tray from Hungary in her bedroom and it's full of her keepsakes. It has different sized holes to accommodate the various items and even a year after getting it there are still holes left for her to fill with new items. Every now and again she changes the layout and swaps things round which makes it an ever evolving display piece which takes centre stage in her room.

If you love the look of this head online to nab a similar one!

In our family bathroom we have one of our most favourite pieces, our beach display shelf. It's much loved by all the family and is refreshed after each holiday. It's a bit of a pain to dust, but we won't worry too much about that!!! There are different sized holes to cater for the varying pebbles and shells and we just love it! It's a constant reminder of happy holidays by the sea.

beach shelf

We have another shelving unit from India in our family bathroom which adds some great colour and enables us to show off more sea glass, plants and the children use it to store some of their toiletries!

The great news is we have some more of these in stock and you can find them online.

Jars

I've lost count of the many jars we have around our home! Most are filled with our sea glass collections or shells from our various holidays. When we go to Devon with John's family we have a Cowrie shell competition. They aren't an easy find, but once you get your eye in and you locate the right spot to hunt for them it gets very exciting! This year we found over 500 in one week between us!

You don't need to buy special jars for this, we just tend to use the ones we have saved at home. Spice or jam jars are great so these never get discarded!

Display boxes

Having a display box is one of the easiest ways of showing off your treasures. Both Edith and Maggie have them in their rooms and they are full to the brim with their much loved items; lego brickhedz, Japanese dolls, sea glass and shells and their Eugy collections.

Don't forget to head to our elevate your finds page where you can see what repurposed options we have available.

Maggie also has one that John made and she customised with Hague Blue (to match her walls). She then went wild with a paint brush to add some paint splatters, an activity she loved!

As part of our elevate your finds collection we have just launched our own customised display shelf and you get to choose the colour! Find them online now.

In our kitchen we also have an old apple crate which houses our favourite and most used glasses! I really love having the things we use daily on display!
